old School Horseshoe

Do Over

Starting again. Keep watching, I'll get this eventually.

FAILED

My challenge was a failure...proved I'm very hard to motivate when its a personal goal. That sucks.

Well, nothing to do but start again.

November challenge begins today.

Self defeat...

I knew I would have a very hard time with a challenge like this and as much as I'd hoped to just breeze through it I prayed it would not be a massive failure of willpower, which is was.

As badly as I want to prove to myself I am capable of a personal challenge like this I've prove I am almost incapable of doing ANY art not specifically part of an active tattoo design...because, hell, I've been busy tattooing!

Truth be told...I want to finish this successfully....and if I had my way i would sit all day and night and crank-out art, but what does that prove, that under-pressure (and only under pressure) I can come through?

I will ponder my options...maybe since Saturday's appointments are light I may get cranking...but don't bet on it.

November is another month and another opportunity to get this done.

Day 2: I'm not thrilled with any of these, that's probably why I did 3.

Day one

My cartoon Aries

Day 1 of 30

Today is the first day of my personal challenge. I've spun the Brainstormer and come up with Style: Cartoon - Subject: Aries - Place: Stomach.

I'm excited and confident that this will go well. My alarms on my phone will keep me reminded and I am making the time to draw. Each post will be made late, Mountain-time.

If you are watching this, feedback is encouraged.

Celtic lotus 09 15 2010

Remember, this is the warm-ups...

Easing into a challenge like this is hopelessly disheartening.

Already missed 2 days...out of 4!

Gotta focus. Gotta do this. Gotta get a life...

09 10 2010 - Sailor-style Colt .45 - warm-up design

The Art Challenge - November 2010

On November 1st, 2010 I will commence the "Draw 30 Random Tattoo Designs in 30 Days" challenge.

I am inviting my friends in the industry, and any artist who wishes to try their hand at it, to participate.

Each week I will post seven drawing prompts that my random idea generator will provide. A style, a visual and a body placement will be provided.

The prompts will be formatted like this "Celtic, Horseshoe, Calf" and with that you will create a sketch of a tattoo design...it doesn't have to be full-color, lined finished art...just a sketch will do.

In the weeks leading up to November 1st, I will begin posting prompts in the mornings and posting my sketches in the evenings. I plan to do 30 designs in October to warm-up.

If you want to warm-up this way, feel free to participate. If you would like to post your drawings here, email them to 30designsin30days@gmail.com, or snap a pic with your phone and text them to 424-234-3729.

I'm available to chat on Google Chat.

The designs will be posted here on http://30tattoodesignsin30days.blogspot.com daily

Designs we feel are in the spirit of the challenge will be collected into a book and sold near cost. All proceeds of the book sales will be used in future challenges or to help send kids to after school art classes via cash grants and scholarships.

By participating, all artists give permission to use the art for use in the book and for promotional purposes...we will not use your art in any other way.

Artists, please inform yourself about the Creative Commons licenses here... http://creativecommons.org/about/licenses

This challenge is about tattoo art. This should be fun. Participate as often as you like, or don't, but at the end of October, those of you who have completed the challenge will find the rewards of your actions are the collection of art you have created.

I hope you accept my challenge. If you know someone who might like to participate, please, forward this post to them.
